I may I have a claim, but I'm not sure if it's worth submitting. What do I need to do?
It's a Property Claim...
Check your property deductible and compare that with what you estimate the property claim would be. For instance, if your deductible is $500 and someone vandalized the front of your store, you need to estimate the amount of the repairs. Also, keep in mind that loss of business income does not apply for three days so it may not be applied to your claim. If the amount of the repairs were $700, you have every right to turn the claim in but may decide not to in order to continue to apply loss free discounts to your policy. Turning in a property claim is your choice. If you are unsure of what to do, contact us and we will give you any information we can to help in your decision.

It's a Liability Claim...
Because there is no deductible on your liability policy with Insurtec, our policy requires that you contact us as soon as practicle of an "occurrence" or an offense which may result in a claim. It is important that you do not attempt to settle a claim yourself as this could greatly impair our ability to defend your business. Also, you will not be penalized for reporting a possible claim that never materializes.
I have a property claim. What do I need to do?
Safety
Protect yourself, your employees and your patrons. If there is property damage, be sure to keep everyone out of harm's way.

Property Damage
Use your best judgment to protect your property from further damage. This could include making temporary repairs such as boarding up broken windows. However, do not make costly repairs before talking to your assigned claims adjuster. If there is missing property, contact the police and file a report outlining what is missing.

Contact Your Insurance Agent
To expedite your claim, contact your insurance agent as soon as possible.

Documentation
Make a list of missing or damaged items in addition to researching the cost of those items. Do not dispose of any damaged property. You should also gather all supporting documentation including invoices. Take pictures of the damage. Keep all receipts for any expenses associated with cleanup

Claims Adjuster
You will have a claims adjuster assigned within 24 hours. They will contact you directly and, depending upon the type of claim, either handle the claim over the phone or assign a local adjuster to meet with you.

The Process
If you have any questions during the claim process, either contact the adjuster assigned to your claim or contact our offices at (800)606-0621. The length of time it takes to adjust your claim will depend on many factors. One of the most important things you can do is to quickly provide as much documentation as possible.
Will you cancel me or increase my rates if I report a claim?
When you encounter a claim, you may wonder if you should report a claim because you are worried of a rate hike or cancellation. There is no easy answer for this question because these situations are handled on a claim-by-claim basis. There are many factors that determine your status including policy coverage, prior claim history, type of loss and the length of time you have had a policy with Insurtec. There is also the possibility that you would lose any loss-free credits you have accumulated. Although you are required to report all liability claims, property claims are your choice to report and you must weigh these factors to determine whether you will report the claim or not.
What's the claim handling process?
When you report your claim to Insurtec, we will electronically submit your claim to our claim processor. Within 24 hours, an adjuster will be assigned and contact you. The adjuster will most likely schedule a time to meet with you and investigate the claim. Depending on the type of claim, it is also possible that the claim will be adjusted over the phone.
